Cabbage juice most likely doesn’t sound just like the best tasting juice around, however it consists of several health advantages and may be a potent medication for ulcers. Here’s why.

Cabbage Juice been used as a treatment for ulcer

Freshly squeezed cabbage juice may be a long-standing home remedy for peptic ulcers. many medical studies like this one found out that raw cabbage juice when administered daily to patients with ulcers, provided “rapid relief from the symptoms and its healing time was in most cases  significantly shorter than when medical forms of diet and drug were employed”.
Powerful substances in cabbage juice such as L-glutamine, S-methylmethionine, glucosinolates and gefarnate was found to be able to protect and also help  heal the mucous membranes lining of your stomach and digestive tract.

Cabbage juice is found to be so rich  in amino acid glutamine. This natural supply of glutamine is believed to be superior to the commercially prepared antacids for treating peptic ulcers due to the way it nourishes and repairs the gastrointestinal lining.

S-methylmethionine, also popularlly known as vitamin U or sometimes called the ulcer healing factor, is found in very high levels in freshly made cabbage juice. It is also known to have a protective effect on the liver, particularly from acetaminophen (Tylenol) liver damage.

Glucosinolates found in cabbage are solely converted to anti-inflammatory isothiocyanates in the body. These very beneficial compounds helps control the Helicobacter pylori bacteria found inside the stomach that majorly contribute to peptic ulcers. So taking a glass of freshly prepared cabbage juice can be so good for peptic ulcer prevention.

Freshly prepared Juiced cabbage also contains a significant good amounts of gefarnate, a substance also  known to protect the stomach lining from possible damage. Gefarnate has been isolated for use as a pharmaceutical treatment, but making your own fresh cabbage juice is just a simple way to get a rich dose of it for the treatment of ulcers and other digestive disorders.

How to Make Raw Cabbage Juice
Cabbage is not usually considered a high pesticide load crop, however it's still much better to soak it in a warm water and a splash of apple cider vinegar in a wide bowl if possible before juicing to clean off the dirt in it.

To begin, chop the stem off your cabbage then chop it in half. Next slice the half portion just wide enough to fit through your juicer feed. usually half a cabbage may be a good starting quantity to juice.

I like to mix cabbage juice with different complementary vegetables as it’s quite potent on its own. Cabbage, carrots and celery juice is usually recommended for digestive health

As with any freshly made juice, it’s the best option to drink raw cabbage juice immediately for the best health benefits.

Cabbage Juice dosage
Half a cabbage or a little more than half freshly juiced cabbage is best taken several times a day before meals, this dosage is usually recommended for the treatment of peptic ulcer. That looks like a bit of work, however if you had a an extremely painful ulcer, I’d imagine you’d get straight to juicing right away if it could bring you relief.

In another study on using cabbage juice for gastric ulcers, average ulcer healing time was found to be around seven days. As against the forty two days in a different study with conventional or medical ulcer treatments.

For anyone who would love to drink juiced cabbage as an ulcer preventative method or just as a healing tonic, preparing fresh juice every few days could be a good regime. Again, it’s usually best to combine cabbage juice with so many other healing juices such as carrot juice and (or)  celery juice. But If you would want to just drink it without adding any other juice preparation, it is best diluting it at least in half with water.

Have you tried preparing fresh cabbage juice for treating peptic ulcers before, or just make it up as an healthy beverage? I would love to know what other vegetables you like to combine with your cabbage juice once you make it.
